Carried out in collaboration with local and French teams, this project will help to bring about a lasting transformation of the city\u2019s transport network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A major rail project<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The programme involves the construction of 14 kilometres of railway track, including 8 kilometres of entirely new viaducts, as well as all the track and catenary equipment required to operate the future network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The works also include the installation of around 500 catenary masts, 40 kilometres of contact wire and nearly 50 kilometres of feeder cable, all of which are essential for powering the tramway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A two-storey depot: a rare feature<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the project\u2019s most remarkable features is the construction of a two-storey depot. Designed to meet the space constraints at the site, this configuration remains uncommon in the railway sector and is one of the key features of this modernisation project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The demolition phase is now drawing to a close. Civil engineering works are about to begin and will gradually prepare the site for the next stages of the project, with the start of track and catenary works<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"oembed\">\n\t<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"ETF EGYPT ON THE ALEXANDRIA SUBWAY\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aee9_wlBSEQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A major mobilisation of staff<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To successfully carry out this transformation, ETF plans to mobilise up to 200 people during peak periods.
