Replacement of track equipment at Serquigny station
From May to the end of June 2026, ETF (Normandy Division) carried out a project for SNCF Réseau to renew the track, ballast and points at Serquigny station (Normandy). Carried out over seven weeks by around twenty staff members, this operation helped to enhance the reliability and longevity of the French rail network. This project illustrates the long-standing relationship of trust between ETF and SNCF Réseau, as well as their ability to work together on major projects aimed at modernising the network.
A major operation to replace three sets of points
Over the weekend of 13 June 2026, teams carried out a major operation to replace three sets of points and renew 150 metres of track and ballast at the station. This targeted intervention modernised equipment essential to rail operations, whilst minimising the impact on services as much as possible.
The project was characterised by remarkable productivity, with up to 130 metres of track renewed per night over several consecutive nights. This achievement reflects the expertise and commitment of the ETF teams.
ETF’s expertise in action
Carried out entirely under the ETF model, the project involved several of the company’s divisions. The Northern Branch managed the track works with support from teams at La Champenoise, whilst the Mechanised Works Branch deployed its specialised equipment, notably the PEM and LEM gantries, which were essential for carrying out the switch renewal operations.
The North branch’s surveying department also played a key role by carrying out the preliminary studies, site staking-out and monitoring of the worksite. The presence of a surveying supervisor every night ensured the accuracy of the work and the compliance of the installations.
Safety and inclusion at the heart of the project
Throughout the operation, the QPE (Quality, Prevention, Environment) department supported the teams to strengthen the site’s safety culture. This support helped maintain a high level of vigilance regarding best practice and risk prevention.
The project also demonstrated ETF’s commitment to vocational integration, with the active participation of an employee on an integration programme who has been part of the teams for nearly two years. This initiative reflects the company’s desire to combine operational performance with social responsibility.
